CHIVES

Chives are a member of the allium family along with onions and leeks. There are over 500 varieties of chives out there; some have a mild onion flavor and others taste more like garlic. Most varieties have a slender green stem with a blossom on top. Earliest records of chives are 5,000 years old!

Storage: Chive will keep for days in a plastic container. Wash before use.

Preparation: Both chive stems and blossoms are edible. Both provide a beautiful edible garnish. For maximum color and flavor, serve chives raw, as on a baked potato.
